Numb hand with a rash?

I've been having neck pain, and on Sunday my hand went numb, so I went to the er where they gave me muscle relaxers and told me it is just muscle spasms. But the pain and numbness hasn't vanish, and today a rash appeared on my hand. It is the only thing I can actually feel and it burns really bad. What could be causing this?
