What can cause this sudden daze/numbness?

If someone suddenly becomes numb, and in a daze, and emotionless, but can still do normal functions, and they pass out and lose their memory from a couple hours passing out prior to morning, what can be medical reasons of this? (Biological/psychological/etc)
