Can muscle relaxants like Valium help?

I think I have a pinched nerve and a physio therapist [not sure of the name] answered a question before and sort of confirmed if could be a pinched nerve, I don't have a doctor appointment until after college tomorrow, so just for now will Valium help prevent some of the symptoms like numbness, because I need to be able to write! Thanks!
