Does hydrogen peroxide bleach your gums?

Sooo major bummer: I was using hydrogen peroxide as a mouthwash, and i guess i was rinsing too long because now parts of my gums are white, it looks like i haven't brushed my teeth- like there's plaque build up (which there's not). Do these spots fade away, and how long does it take? Ahhhhh!
